Terms of Use
These terms cover sourdoughy.app, this website. Using the site means you accept them. The Sourdoughy mobile app is sold through the App Store and Google Play and is governed by their terms alongside these. Nothing here is meant to be clever: the site is a free set of baking guides, and these terms mostly say so plainly.
Using the site
Everything here is free to read, and you are welcome to follow the recipes, print them, and bake from them at home or commercially. You may quote from the guides with attribution and a link.
What we ask you not to do is republish whole guides as if they were yours, or scrape the site in a way that degrades it for other people. Our machine-readable licence terms are published at rsl.xml and our crawler rules at robots.txt; AI crawlers are explicitly welcome under attribution.
Food safety
Baking involves raw flour, hot ovens and cast iron, and you are responsible for your own kitchen. Two things are worth stating outright:
- Raw flour and raw dough are not safe to eat. Bake them.
- Throw out a contaminated starter. Pink or orange streaks, or fuzzy growth, mean start again rather than rescue it.
Our guides give the signals we use, but you are closer to your jar than we are. If something looks or smells wrong to you, trust that.
Not professional advice
The guides describe home baking, not nutrition, medicine or food-safety regulation. Where we cite research, for example on fermentation and digestion, we are reporting published findings and not giving you health advice. Talk to a qualified professional about anything that concerns your health, and to your local food authority about anything you plan to sell.
Accuracy
We check timings, ratios and temperatures against the same content the Sourdoughy app uses, and we correct mistakes when we find them or when you tell us about one. Even so, bread is variable: flour, water, kitchen temperature and altitude all change results, so treat every number here as a well-informed starting point rather than a guarantee. The site is provided as is, without warranty, and we are not liable for a loaf that does not work out.
Links to other sites
We link to sources and to the app stores. We do not control those sites, and a link is not an endorsement of everything on them.
Changes
These terms may change. The date at the top of this page tells you when they last did, and continuing to use the site means you accept the current version.
Who publishes this site
