Privacy Policy
This page covers sourdoughy.app, the website you are reading. It is deliberately short, because the site does very little: there are no accounts, no forms, no comments and no newsletter, so there is nothing for you to sign up to and nothing for us to store about you personally. The Sourdoughy mobile app is a separate product with its own policy, linked at the bottom.
What this site collects
One thing: anonymous usage analytics, through Google Analytics 4. That covers which pages are opened, which links and buttons are clicked, how far down a page people scroll, roughly where in the world the visit came from (country or city level, never an address), and the browser, device type and language.
This is used for one purpose, which is working out which guides are useful and which are not. It is not used to build a profile of you, and it is not sold or shared with anyone for their own purposes.
What this site does not do
- No advertising cookies. Analytics runs under Google Consent Mode v2 with
ad_storage,ad_user_dataandad_personalizationall set to denied. The site shows no ads and runs no remarketing. - No accounts and no forms. There is nowhere on this site to enter your name, email address or payment details.
- No selling of data. Not to anyone, for any price.
- No tracking across other websites.
Cookies and local storage
Google Analytics sets its own first-party cookies to tell one visit apart from another. That is the only cookie category this site uses. Blocking cookies for sourdoughy.app in your browser will not break anything here, because nothing on the site depends on them.
Other companies involved
A handful of third parties necessarily see a request when you load a page:
- Google Analytics, for the usage statistics described above.
- Google Fonts, which serves the two typefaces this site uses.
- Cloudflare, which sits in front of the site and serves it quickly and securely.
- Apple and Google, whose servers host the two app store badge images in the page footer and header.
Each of these receives your IP address as part of an ordinary web request, which is unavoidable for any site that loads anything from another domain.
How to opt out
Any of these work, and none of them affect the content:
- Install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Turn on your browser's tracking protection, or use a content blocker.
- Block cookies for this site.
Children
This site is aimed at adults who bake. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect anything from them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what data is held about you, to have it deleted, or to object to its processing. Since this site holds no account and no contact details for you, in practice there is rarely anything to retrieve. Ask anyway if you want to: [email protected].
The mobile app
The Sourdoughy iOS and Android app is a separate product and handles more than this website does, including the photos you submit for an AI starter check. It has its own policy: Sourdoughy app privacy policy.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Questions go to [email protected]. Sourdoughy is published by Black Box Code LLC.
